About the event

Join Shelburne Trails Club (STC) and MLT in hearing from Nancy Eaton, former STC board member and current “TrailMaster," speaking on her experience hiking Kungsleden (King’s Trail) north and south of the Arctic Circle in 2019.

Nancy spent three weeks hiking in Sweden on this 450 km trail that crosses the Arctic Circle and passes through four of Sweden’s national parks. She describes this extension of the Appalachians as a landscape both familiar and vastly different from our own White Mountains. Reindeer roam on these far northern lands where frigid streams run and signs of the indigenous Sami people dot the open landscape. This adventure required Planes, Trains, Automobiles, Boats, and Hiking Boots - all the modes of travel to get to and complete the hiking route.

Nancy is an astrophysicist and former instructor at Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine and has been helping STC restore lost Shelburne hiking trails since…
