The Bluebird Effect: Uncommon Bonds with Common Birds

What happens when you are taken into the confidence of a wild bird?

Julie Zickefoose has worn many hats over her career: artist, author, naturalist, illustrator, bird and bat rehabilitator, NPR commentator and now, advising editor of BWD Magazine. But for Julie, it has all been in service to the wildlife on her 80-acre property in Ohio – especially for the baby birds which hatch there each spring. Lucky for us, Julie is also an incredible educator. “If I can give people a gift, it is to open their eyes to what birds are doing.”

This gift will be on display on January 31, when Julie conducts a webinar as a part of Mahoosuc Land Trust’s Habitat for All initiative — The Bluebird Effect: Uncommon Bonds with Common Birds. Titled after her book by the same name, this webinar will share the insights Julie gained through her work rehabilitating wild birds.

It is a treat for us to have Julie present for Mahoosuc Land Trust. You will come away inspired and full of ideas for your own space, no matter how small. To learn more about Julie, follow her on Instagram or read her blog at http://juliezickefoose.blogspot.com/.

Part of recreating on this land means protecting it too. Before heading out on any adventure on conserved trails or boat launches, familiarize yourself with land usage etiquette and rules.
