Why Act Now?

  1. Prized recreation: hiking, glade skiing, berry picking, paddling.

  2. Stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

  3. The Whitecap summit makes up two rare natural community types, a red pine woodland and mid-elevation bald. At 210 acres, the red pine woodland is the largest example of this community type known in the state.

  4. Public drinking water protection.

  5. Potential industrial wind energy projects and loss of recreational access to other uses.
