Make a lasting impact

Thank you for exploring how you can join other donors who share the same passion for conserving in perpetuity, the important lands of the Mahoosuc Region. Including a gift to Mahoosuc Land Trust in your will, or naming us as a beneficiary of an insurance policy will strengthen our ability to protect and preserve the wildlife, clean water, forests, mountain tops, and fields that are central to the quality of life we all enjoy in this very special corner of the earth.

 

There are a wide variety of options to meet your goals.

• Leave a bequest to MLT.  This is a gift that transfers at death by will or trust and could be a specified amount or asset, or a percentage of your estate. Your estate is reduced by the fair market value of a charitable gift, potentially reducing the impact of the federal transfer tax on the estate.  Unlike some other planned giving options, bequests allow you to change your mind at any time. (Here is sample will language).

• Name MLT as a beneficiary of an insurance policy or retirement fund.

• Make a life income gift. Through annuities, trusts, and other vehicles, you can receive payments for life.

• Reduce your taxable income with a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA.

• Provide for the conservation of your land in your will or other estate planning document

 

Although we cannot provide tax or legal advice, we are happy to provide information on options to help you and your advisors integrate your charitable giving into your overall tax, financial, and estate planning.  Anyone who makes a bequest or planned gift is considered a member of MLT’s Legacy Circle.
