About The Event
It is fall, and many of our spring and summer visitors, along with their young, have left for southern climes. Among the last still here are Sandhill Cranes, a group of which have gathered for the last few years on fallow fields in the Fryeburg area. Many of you have joined us for a field trip to the area in hopes of spotting these birds. The last three years, we have been lucky enough to find them in the fields along the Saco off McNeil and River Road. Please consider joining us Sunday, October 15, 2023. We will meet at the parking lot of Fryeburg Academy at 8:00 a.m. and then convoy over to see what we can find. Please consider joining us. Bring binoculars. We will be observing birds from a distance. I’ll bring my spotting scope but encourage others to bring theirs as well. Although we’ve always been lucky to find them in past years, there are no guarantees, but it is always nice to get out early on a nice fall day.
