Dragonflies and Damselflies

Dr Ron Butler, professor emeritus Umaine Farmington, is an ecologist interested in issues related to the conservation of biological diversity.  Ron's presentation will cover the taxonomy, evolution, breeding biology, and ecological significance of damselflies and dragonflies He will include images of some representative species of our nine odonate families, explore regional conservation issues, and briefly consider odonate population trends in the context of the 'insect apocalypse'.  The presentation will conclude with some recommended odonate identification field guides, apps, and websites.
